Walking in solidarity with refugees who have endured the unimaginable, we recognize the strength it takes to begin again.
By walking together at Walk a Mile in My Shoes, we send a powerful message: we see you, we welcome you, and we will not stop providing support to those who need us. Your participation helps JFS continue to provide essential resources— housing, employment support, and community connections—so that every newcomer, no matter when they arrived, has the opportunity to thrive.
JFS' critical initiative provides: Arrival assistance and placement; Intensive case management; Youth and women's empowerment services; Health and behavioral health services; Nutrition support through our Nourish Nutrition Services; Entrepreneurial business development and training through our Micro Enterprise Development programs. We are still actively serving resettlement clients, as assistance does not stop after 90 days, often extending to years of service.

JFS programs go far beyond meeting the basic needs of our clients. Many programs aim to set our clients up for success and stability for years to come. Learn more about a few programs below!
In partnership with Matthaei Botanical Gardens, the Refugee Agricultural Partnership Program (RAPP) teaches refugees the American agricultural system, allows them to participate in a community garden, and start their own agricultural businesses.
The Micro Enterprise Development (MED) program provides assistance to our clients with entrepreneurial aspirations by offering financial literacy courses, assistance with business planning and ongoing technical support, including business seminars, access to markets and pop-up opportunities, marketing opportunities, and referrals to specialists. These clients make up JFS Made! Check out these small businesses every Saturday all summer long at the Ypsi Farmer's Market, and at this years Walk a Mile in My Shoes event!
